Meet Lucy Ryder - a brand new aspiring artist and songwriter who is based in the United Kingdom. Born and raised partially in Hayes in Middlesex, London then moving to Gloucestershire in May 2007, Lucy’s passion on becoming a musician, singer and songwriter started at a very young age. Lucy Ryder is a singer-songwriter creating modern pop music with a blend of guitar, acoustic textures, piano and synth-driven production. Her goal as an artist is to make sure that people feel seen, heard and listened too as well as not feeling alone in what they're going through. Lucy is neurodivergent, which means that she experiences and sees the world from a different perspective to others. This also means that Lucy processes the world in a creative and beautiful way in which her music captures and demonstrates this through her experience-driven song lyrics.

At the heart of Lucy's music is the belief that most personal experiences can become the most relatable songs. Lucy gives the backstory of her track, "Invisible Presence," which she explains is about "a person that has had a positive impact on my life, who I actually don't see now, but they still have an impact in a positive way. It is about somebody that played a very significant role in my life at the time and even now, but they haven't realised it. It is actually about an acquaintance, who I felt platonically towards." Lucy explains, "they have helped me in self discovery of my identity and why I think the way I do about relationships." Lucy continues, "Invisible Presence" is a very flexible song, meaning that this song could be about either a romantic or platonic relationship, or even both! This person who it is about was from a platonic perspective, but the way in which the lyrics are written, it could also stem from a romantic one. I like how flexible this song is and if there's one word I can describe IP as, it would be 'flexible.'" 

 

​​Lucy's writing explores love, unrequited feelings, loss, grief, relationships, identity, self-discovery and the complicated emotions that often don't have an easy explanation. Rather than putting herself into one box, Lucy's sound and artistry are constantly evolving. Her music can move between vulnerable and reflective moments, energetic pop and intimate songwriting. More than anything, Lucy wants her music to make people feel, whether that's understood, challenged, comforted, empowered or simply a little less alone. Her identity as an artist isn't about having everything figured out. It's about documenting the journey, telling the stories that matter and creating a space where people can connect through shared experiences.

Lucy sadly lost her mother, Anna in 2018 at a young age. Lucy has been navigating her bereavement as well as having therapy, songwriting has helped her to process her grief in a way that hopes would have an impact on others who are also going through grief. Lucy is passionate about raising awareness around mental health and neurodiversity and hopes to be a well known advocate as she steps onto the music scene.

Lucy Ryder is an emerging force in music with a voice that doesn’t just stand out—it cuts through. Her sound blends raw emotion with haunting melodies, and her lyrics read like pages from her journal—honest, empathetic, intimate, and authentically deeply human. Lucy's genre and style of music is often described as emotional modern pop, accompanied with guitar, piano/keyboard and synths.

Lucy is about to study Popular Music BA Hons at University of Gloucestershire. Lucy is currently in the support work industry caring for children and young people, however is working towards getting into the music industry. Lucy is currently working on a variety of projects such as a podcast, "Lucy's Music Monday" which is about getting to know who Lucy is as a person behind her music! Lucy is also currently working on an EP, more updates to follow on this very soon!
